5 quick tips on money

Only buy what you have the cash for

Train yourself not to spend money you don’t have in hand. Contrary to popular opinion you really don’t need a credit card. Don’t be like everyone else who is drowning in debt, whose place of living is filled with unpaid stuff that they will be working to pay off for the next 10-15 years. There is nothing wrong with delayed gratification.

Stop living  above your means

Far too many people are living above their means. Do you really need those new Jordans? Or the lastest phone? Or what about that new flat screen T.V? Maybe you do, that’s not the point. The problem isn’t necessarily answering yes to all those questions, rather the problem is when you are living a lifestyle that doesn’t equal your flow of income. I’m all for having nice stuff but be honest with yourself, if you can’t afford that lifestyle then don’t live above your means.

Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses

In the name of keeping in step with the times, too many people find themselves in the bondage of trying to keep up with the Joneses. Don’t worry about what your neighbor has or doesn’t have. Don’t let their lifestyle determine how you spend your money. Keep your financial goals in mind, in other words, mind your own business.

Learn the power of saving money

Remember, just because you get paid on Thursday doesn’t mean you need to spend all your money by Friday. Too many people have a spending addiction and as a result, never put themselves in the position to save their money. At the end of their lives, they have no money set aside for their family let alone to cover the cost of their own casket. Learn the power of saving your money and your future self will thank you.

Read a book about money

We are living in a time where information is literally a click away, so stop procrastinating and making excesses about your financial woes and use that same energy to pick up and read a book. With literally thousands of books to choose from on the topic of money, there is absolutely no reason why you cannot be more educated on the topic of money. Stop making excuses and get your life in order today. Whatever your financial situation is, be sure that someone has written on the topic. Stop being lazy and read a book today.
